Update on Leona Helmsley’s dog, Trouble

September 8th, 2007 · No Comments

I wrote about Leona Helmsley’s maltese Trouble inheriting $12 million last week. The money was to go to Leona’s brother, which he was supposed to use to care for the dog. Also, the money was also to be used to creamate the dog when it dies, and placed next to the grave of Leona. Now, the brother refuses to care for his sister’s Maltese, and is thinking of passing Trouble off to another brother. Furthermore, the cemetary where Leona is buried will not allow animal remains to be placed anywhere in the vicinity. Looks like Trouble may be in some….Trouble? Hopefully her Maltese can find a good home and someone that will love her. I don’t think the dog really needs $12 million to survive, merely someone to give her affection and proper care.Maybe if Leona wasn’t such an evil woman, dubbed the nickname, “The Queen of Mean”, perhaps her Maltese wouldn’t be in such a rut. But I don’t know the whole story. All I know is that money is the root of all evil if it gets into the wrong hands. Money can change a person in completely, and I have seen this first hand. My advice to people who come upon large fortunes is to stay humble, and keep the people you love most close to you.
