Just recently in Upshur County, Texas, a puppy mill was discovered where more tha 240 dogs were rescued. We hear about puppy mills all the time and how we should avoid them, but we never really get to see what they’re like. People from the SPCA of Texas describe this particular puppy mill as the worst they’ve seen in years. Officials discovered hundreds of sick dogs living in their own filth and feces in indescribable conditions. This was supposedly a toy breed puppy mill where Pomeranians, Yorkies, Boston Terriers, and Chihuahua’s were found living in absolutely inhumane conditions. The stench and odor of this mill had people forced to wear masks in order to go in and save these poor dogs.
This horrible situation was discovered by a man looking to buy a trailer. Once he saw the horrible conditions and what was going on, he notified officials. Some of the dogs were already deceased, however more than 240 dogs were able to be brought to the vet and hopefully saved. A tough task seeing that most of these dogs were sick, malnutritioned and under fed. An extremely horrible sight indeed.

Hearing stories such as these make me absolutely sick to my stomach. I just can’t fathom how someone could treat these animals in such a horrible way and have no guilt on their conscience. They see these animals as simply money making machines as opposed to actual dogs. I mean, these people are basically killing these dogs in a very slow manner. It’s worst than torture. Its the most evil thing any human can put an animal through in my opinion. I think whoever runs this puppy mill should be locked away in prison for life. That’s not even really a fair punishment. If they were to suffer the same consequence as their dogs, then we should put them in solitary confinement for the rest of their lives and be fed just enough scraps to barely suvive. Then, provide them with no toilets, where they have to live in their own feces. And if they ever get sick, forget about gettting a doctor. They would just have to deal with it. That’s pretty much how these evil people treated these misfortunate dogs.
Hopefully stories such as these get the word about puppy mills. I wish people knew more about this topic as more and more people get their dogs from online and out of state. Now I’m saying that all dogs purchased online are through puppy mills, but do some diligent research and get good references before purchasing a puppy online or out of state.
