I’m sure you have all heard the craze of going organic. You’ve heard that organic food can increase your energy, boost your immune system, clear up your skin etc. It seems that eating organic is the key to a better lifestyle and the best thing to happen since sliced bread. So why not feed your dog organic food so they can benefit from the advantages of organic dog food also?

To be honest, I don’t go out of my way to find organic foods. Yes, I’ve heard all the benefits and advantages that one can gain from eating all organic foods. I have friends that will only eat organic food, so I constantly hear their debates on why organic is so great. However, I want the best for my dogs, so I’ve decided to do some research and find out why organic dog food is so great. Remember, this is only my opinion and findings from research. I have no proof of these particular benefits.

1. Organic dog food is known to cure certain dog allergies and skin ailments. If your dog suffers from skin rashes, dry skin, or some sort of allergy, you may want to consider some organic dog food. Many times, dogs are prescribed medicines, creams and ointments to mediate skin ailments. However, using a natural method through your dog’s diet may be the answer. Organic dog food does not use any sort of pesticides, artificial colors, flavor enhancers or any sort of chemical additives for that matter. All the chemicals found in regular dog food may be the culprit in your dog’s skin condition.

2. People have reported that their dogs have more energy since switching to organic dog food. I can see how this can happen. A person’s diet greatly affects their energy level. When a dog eats good quality proteins and organic oats and barley, their body will turn this into energy more efficiently. Having corn fillers and fatty foods often found in grocery store brands can make digesting food more difficult, along with converting into energy.

3. Overall, your dog should benefit from organic dog food by having a greater quality of life and longer lifespan. I can totally agree with this notion. I am a big believer that one’s diet contributes to about 90% to a person’s health. The other 10% is genetics and outside environment. I think so many Americans have so many health problems because we eat so poorly. Look how many fast food joints flood our country with absolute junk food. Look at the huge portions that the average American eats. It crazy. And I believe the same thing goes for dogs. Feed your dog crap, and their health will become crap. Organic dog foods contain high quality protein, barley, and oats free of any sort of chemical additives. These are the sorts of ingredients we should be feeding our dogs.

All in all, organic dog food is an excellent alternative to what you find in any grocery store. Don’t get me wrong, their are many dog foods that not advertised as being organic that are excellent. You can actually read my full dog food analysis here.
